The Lochaber Area Place Plan (APP) was recently approved, outlining the aspirations of local communities within the region.

The APP, which was agreed on Monday, 27th January, highlights key priorities such as improved health and wellbeing services, access to affordable housing, opportunities for young people, enhanced public transport, and the development of a strong local economy.

"Area Place Plans (APP) are important for Lochaber as they are community-led plans, offering the opportunity to shape the vision, ambition and key priorities for both people and place across Lochaber," said Cllr John Grafton, Lochaber Area Committee Vice Chair. "They help to target resources, service delivery and with clear area specific plans, assist in attracting investment."


The APP will serve as a valuable tool for The Highland Council, partners, and communities to leverage funding, prioritise resources, and effectively deliver services that meet the specific needs of the Lochaber region.

Community engagement will play a crucial role in the ongoing development and implementation of the APP, ensuring that the plan reflects the evolving needs and aspirations of the local community.

This comprehensive plan will provide a strong foundation for the future development of Lochaber, guiding decision-making and ensuring that the region thrives.
