Scottish Enterprise Supports Highland Heritage Woodworks Expansion
Highland Heritage Woodworks, a company specialising in sustainable timber products and bespoke carpentry, is set for further growth following a recent investment in a new sawmill facility in Aberdeenshire.
The company, founded by Guy Phillips and Armands Balams, has received a £100,000 grant from Scottish Enterprise to support the project, which will see the creation of 20 new jobs by 2027.
"This investment in capital infrastructure will help increase productivity, expand its range of products, and create jobs as well as having solid net zero principles," said Rhona Allison, Managing Director of Productivity and Business Growth at Scottish Enterprise.
The new sawmill, equipped with cutting-edge technology, will enable Highland Heritage Woodworks to source and process high-quality Scottish timber at scale, meeting the growing demand for sustainable building materials.
"Around 80% of the UK's timber is imported, and our aim is to do something about that," said Guy Phillips, Chief Executive Officer of Highland Heritage Woodworks. "The focus is on delivering the best possible outcomes for home-grown Scottish timber, from forest to front door."
The expansion of Highland Heritage Woodworks aligns with the Scottish Government's commitment to sustainable economic growth and supports the objectives of National Productivity Week (27-31 January), a campaign aimed at raising awareness of and addressing productivity challenges.
