£2m Sewer Upgrade Project Nears Completion In Glenmavis

Construction News Image
Scottish Water is nearing the halfway point of a £2 million project to upgrade the local sewer network in Glenmavis, North Lanarkshire.

The project, delivered through Scottish Water Horizons, aims to support future development in the area and reduce the risk of sewer flooding.

Key aspects of the project include the installation of a new storage pipe in the grass verge between Dunvegan and Windsor Drive to accommodate excess stormwater during heavy rainfall, and the construction of a new sewer along Glenmavis Road and Coatbridge Road.

To facilitate the next phase of work, road closures will be implemented:

• Windsor Drive: Closure at the junction with B803 Raebog Road from Monday, February 3rd to Friday, February 7th, 2025.

• Glenmavis Road: Full road closure at the junction with Coatbridge Road from Monday, February 10th to Friday, February 21st, 2025.

"The diversion for the Glenmavis Road closure will be significant, so we urge motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time," said John Kerr, Scottish Water's Project Manager. "While pedestrian access to local businesses will be maintained, some parking restrictions will be in place."

Mr. Kerr expressed gratitude to the community for their patience and understanding during the construction period.

Work on the project, which includes the installation of approximately 500 metres of new sewer, commenced in July 2024 and is expected to be completed within nine months.
