Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has been recognised for its innovative approach to net zero at the 2024 Utility Week Awards.
SSEN's LENZA tool, a digital platform designed to accelerate local net zero planning, won the Net Zero Engagement category. The tool empowers decision-makers to make informed choices about new net zero developments.
In addition, SSEN's Vulnerability Future Energy Scenarios (VFES) project, which prioritises the needs of vulnerable customers in future energy system planning, won the Unlocking Data category.
The company also received the inaugural Skills & Training Award for its 'Home Safe' programme, which is part of the wider SSE Group's commitment to safety.
SSEN's success at the awards highlights its leadership in the energy sector and its dedication to delivering a sustainable energy future.
Andrew Roper, SSEN Distribution's Director of Distribution System Operations, said: "SSEN's work towards net zero, and our innovative ethos, are both motivated by a desire to do the very best by all of our 4 million customers, whatever their circumstances, and wherever they live in our licence areas.
"Our Vulnerability Future Energy Scenarios and the LENZA tool are two standout examples of great things we're doing to deliver on our environmental and societal goals, so it's particularly special to see them recognised in this way by the Utility Week Award judges.
"I'd like to thank everyone within SSEN whose hard work and dedication has driven these projects forward. And I'd also express my gratitude to all our project partners, whose support and dedication has been instrumental in securing the recognition VFES and LENZA have now received.
"This success will motivate us to keep on working tirelessly to deliver net zero, and ensure we provide the fairest, most efficient services for our customers."
