A public consultation is underway for the development of a new secondary school in Hazlehead. The consultation will provide an opportunity for the community to view proposed designs for the new Hazlehead Academy Campus and offer feedback.
Aberdeen City Councillor Martin Greig, convener of the Education and Children's Services Committee, expressed enthusiasm about the project and encouraged public participation. He emphasised the importance of young people's input in shaping the design of the new school.
Vice-convener, Councillor Jessica Mennie, said: "The new school will benefit the whole school community and support pupils for years to come, and it is important that we listen to the views of the local area in bringing detailed plans forward."
This is the first pre-application consultation event on the new school and comes as part of the statutory pre-application consultation prior to submitting a planning application.
Councillors had previously agreed to construct the proposed new 1,600 capacity campus on the current Hazlehead Academy playing fields.
The secondary school would serve a new catchment area including Hazlehead, Kingswells and Countesswells communities.
A drop-in event will take place at Hazlehead Academy on Thursday 5th December between 3:30pm and 7:30pm, where attendees can discuss the proposals with the Project Team.
The consultation will open on 5th December and can be completed online. The consultation will be open until Friday 20 December.
This project is part of the North Schools Programme, which is a ground-breaking partnership between five local authorities across the north of Scotland to deliver new learning estate. The collaboration will deliver substantial financial, economic, and social impact benefits.
