A new cycling route is set to be introduced on West Nile Street in Glasgow city centre. The route will run parallel to Buchanan Street, providing a north-south connection between Cowcaddens Road and Argyle Street.
The cycleway will integrate with the city's Avenues programme, a network of pedestrian and cycling routes across the city centre. The new route is expected to encourage active travel by providing a safe and convenient link between key destinations.
In addition to the cycleway, plans include improvements to pedestrian areas on West Nile Street, such as footway widening and resurfacing. Traffic restrictions on Mitchell Street and a reduced carriageway on West Nile Street are also proposed to prioritise pedestrians and cyclists.
The West Nile Street project is part of a wider effort to create a comprehensive cycling network in Glasgow city centre.
