SSEN Transmission employees recently joined forces with Friends of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs to contribute to the upkeep of the Three Lochs Way path in the Arrochar area. As part of their commitment to community engagement, the volunteers spent a day clearing overgrown vegetation and improving accessibility along the popular trail.
The initiative was linked to the Sloy-Windyhill Overhead Line Refurbishment Project. SSEN Transmission's Community Liaison Manager, Martha Smart, and Consents and Environment Manager, James Elliott, participated in the volunteer effort, alongside local residents.
Despite the rainy weather, the team's dedication and hard work paid off, with a stunning rainbow appearing over the loch. The day also provided an opportunity to learn about the area's rich history, including the significance of Loch Sloy Power Station and the Arrochar Community Hydro scheme.
By supporting local initiatives and giving back to the community, SSEN Transmission demonstrates its commitment to responsible business practices and environmental stewardship.
Martha Smart, SSEN Transmission's Community Liaison Manager, shared: "It was a great experience joining Friends of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs to help keep the path in good shape.
"As part of our project works we are pleased to be working with the Friends & Helensburgh District and Access Trust to upgrade parts of this important well-trodden path.
"SSEN Transmission is proud to support local initiatives, which bring people together to improve Scotland's regions and benefit the people who live there.
"Working alongside people who care so much about this place really showed us the value of preserving access to these incredible spaces. We're glad to play a small part in supporting the community, and we're looking forward to more opportunities like this."
