Renewable Energy Industry Welcomes Budget Boost

Construction News Image
The Chancellor's Autumn Budget has been met with positive reception from the renewable energy sector.

Claire Mack, Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, expressed satisfaction with the government's recognition of the industry's crucial role in driving economic growth. She highlighted the £134 million allocated for port investment, which will be instrumental in scaling up floating offshore wind projects.

Mack also welcomed the £125 million commitment to GB Energy, a move that will stimulate much-needed investment in clean power projects across the UK. The Scottish Renewables chief executive believes that Scotland's robust pipeline of renewable energy projects will be central to the government's growth strategy.

Mack continued: "We are also encouraged that the UK Government has committed to ambitious plans for developing two green hydrogen projects in Scotland and its renewed push on energy efficiency.

"Meanwhile, the UK Government's soon to be announced industrial strategy is set to establish clean energy as a priority sector and we welcome the promise of multi-year funding that will boost investor confidence in our industry.

"The industrial strategy is set to drive the renewable energy industry into a new era. It is vital that the UK Government continues the close working relationship it has established with our industry and key stakeholders to ensure the strategy maximises the deployment of renewable energy across all sectors including onshore and offshore wind, low-carbon heat and green hydrogen."
