CCG (Scotland) is progressing work on a development of specialist council homes for elderly residents in Old Kilpatrick, according to an update from West Dunbartonshire Council.
Construction began on the Mount Pleasant site, where the West Dunbartonshire Council care home formerly was located just off Dumbarton Road, earlier this year with one and two-bedroom homes included in the development.
These homes, which are a mixture of cottage and flatted properties, will be low carbon due to zero-emissions heating systems with an individual air-source heat pump for each house and an innovative exhaust air-source heat pump for each flat. The homes have also been constructed using CCG’s enhanced closed panel 'iQ' Timber System.
"I am delighted that this development is being built specifically with the older members of our community in mind," said Convener of Housing and Communities, Councillor Gurpreet Singh Johal.
"This will be a welcome and vibrant area, in close proximity to good transport links, which will help people stay active in the community."
Vice Convener of Housing and Communities, Councillor Hazel Sorrell, added: "It's incredible to see the progress of this important development already and I am looking forward to hearing about the positive experiences that the new residents will have once they move in."
CCG will undertake various community benefit obligations throughout the course of the construction programme, including two new full-time jobs, eight work placements and eight career-based activities with local schools.
