Discovery Point Phase II Plans Unveiled

Construction News Image
Dundee Heritage Trust (DHT) has submitted plans for the second phase of improvements to Discovery Point, the popular visitor attraction located on the banks of the River Tay.

The design plans, developed by Aim Design in collaboration with Narro, Methven Design, and Turner & Townsend, aim to enhance the building's functionality and sustainability. The proposals include a new ground floor events space, a first-floor café with panoramic views, and a 360-degree immersive gallery.

The project also focuses on environmental improvements, such as the installation of an 80kW rooftop photovoltaic array to reduce operational energy consumption by 25%.

The alterations to the south side of the building will activate the easternmost end of Dundee's Riverside Walk, providing visitors with a new external café terrace.

Discovery Point Phase II builds upon the success of the award-winning Phase I works completed in 2022, further enhancing the visitor experience and contributing to the revitalisation of Dundee's waterfront.
