Glasgow CC Seeks Public Input On Waterfront Redevelopment

Construction News Image
Glasgow City Council is hosting consultation sessions on Wednesday, October 9th, to gather public feedback on proposed redevelopment plans for Custom House Quay and Carlton Place along the Clyde River in the city centre.

The project aims to revitalise the waterfront area, enhancing its townscape, heritage, and environment while addressing the structural integrity of the quay walls. The council has appointed a design team led by Hawkins-Brown to develop a masterplan for both the north and south banks and outline a phased approach for infrastructure works.

The project will also address the growing need for quality amenity space in the area due to ongoing development in the city centre and North Laurieston.

The consultation sessions will take place at Glasgow City Chambers on October 9th, from 11 AM to 2 PM and from 5 PM to 8 PM. Additionally, an online survey will be available from October 9th to 26th, allowing residents to learn more about the proposals and provide their feedback.

Councillor Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council and Chair of the Glasgow City Region Cabinet, said: "The Custom House Quay and Carlton Place project will transform a historic part of the waterfront in Glasgow city centre. These are very exciting proposals for a new and unique city destination, and the consultation sessions will give those taking part the chance to both learn much more about them and give their views on what they would like from the final design and masterplan."

The Glasgow City Region City Deal will see both the Scottish and UK Governments each provide £500million of funding for infrastructure projects.
