Persimmon Homes is continuing its investment in the future talent pipeline following the recruitment of 10 new apprentices across their three operating businesses in Scotland.

The apprentices are undertaking a mixture of bricklaying, carpentry & joinery, and painting & decorating modern apprenticeship frameworks at SVQ level 6 and include young people as well as adults upskilling.

Persimmons have provided the trainees with all the tools and equipment required to succeed in their apprenticeship ensuring that the financial cost of equipment isn't a barrier to their success.

This year's cohort of apprentices met in West Lothian this week as they completed their final preparations for taking their first steps into the construction industry. Welcoming the next generation of construction professionals, Persimmon's senior leadership team including Managing Directors and Construction Directors, took time to talk to the new starters about the value of their apprenticeship and the importance of house building sector across the country.

William Smith, Persimmon's Regional Apprenticeship Manager, said:

"We're delighted to welcome the next generation of construction professionals to the business and our commitment to increasing the number – and improving the diversity – of our apprentices has absolutely been at the forefront of our recruitment this year.

"We work closely with local construction colleges across the country to ensure that young people with the ambition and attitude needed to succeed in the industry are given a platform to do so.

"This year in the north region we've added painting and decorating to the bricklaying, roofing and joinery apprenticeships we already offer and it's great to see more people than ever developing valuable skills and experience on our sites."
