Construction News Image
Two large-scale CCG (Scotland) constructed housing development have been shortlisted for this year's Inside Housing Development Awards.

Dykehead Road, forming part of the Holehills Regeneration in Airdrie, has been shortlisted in the Best Regeneration Project category, and Castlehill Road, the first of a multi-phase regeneration in Wishaw, has been shortlisted for the Best Healthy Homes Development.

Each project was led by CCG on behalf of North Lanarkshire Council who have also been recognised in the Best Development Team category.

The awards recognise the teams, schemes and solutions that have made a positive impact across the UK housing sector in "these exceptional times".

The projects have been delivered as part of the Council's ambitious new build supply programme, launched in 2018, which is a commitment to achieving the target of 5,000 new homes by 2035.

This has included repurposing large-scale sites once home to mid-to-high-rise housing stock with high-quality, affordable and accessible homes now in their place.

Dykehead Road and Castlehill Road are both examples of this urban regeneration strategy.

Located just outside of Airdrie's busy town centre, Dykehead Road comprises 150, 2,3, and 4-bedroom, low-rise homes including 19 'pilot' dwellings designed to achieve regulated operational net zero carbon, the first ever created in the region.

Castlehill Road is the first phase of the multi-million-pound transformation of Gokthrapple, a small district of Wishaw south of the town centre.

Comprising 97 homes delivered in partnership with hub South West Scotland, the development offers a mix of house types including two and three-bedroom homes; one and two-bedroom cottage flats; various wheelchair houses including four-bedroom homes, two-bedroom cottage flats and two and three-bedroom bungalows.

A specialist amenity hub, complete with its own hair salon, has also been created within the masterplan and is a dedicated facility designed to help tackle loneliness among older tenants.

Both projects have been aided by the integrated expertise of the CCG Group. The homes have been constructed using offsite methods of construction with CCG's own window and door types also utilised alongside the design and installation of all public utilities and renewable services.

CCG has also been able to facilitate a wide range of initiatives within the respective communities, including job creation, apprenticeships, and work placements as well as localised engagement with schools and investment.
