A substantial investment of £300,000 is earmarked for two parks in Falkirk, and residents are being invited to have their say in prioritising the spending of the funds before the deadline of March 2025.
The two parks are Kinneil Estate in Bo'ness and Callendar Park.
Both parks have been allocated £150,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and residents can take part in a vote to have their say on how this funding should be allocated to improve these green spaces.
The proposed improvements for Kinneil Estate are:
• Improving access within the Estate: upgrading car parks and footpaths.
• Enhancing the Main Drive: planting avenue trees and improving the paddock wall.
• Boosting biodiversity: introducing pollinator-friendly plants and creating bug hotels.
Funding will be distributed based on the community's votes, with £70,000 for the most popular option, £50,000 for the second, and £30,000 for the third.
Similarly, Callendar Park has secured £150,000, with potential projects identified through community surveys:
• Enhancements to the west end of the loch: improving the area around the pier.
• Improving access within the Park: upgrading entrances and pathways.
• Boosting biodiversity: introducing pollinator-friendly plants and creating bug hotels.
The two options with the highest votes will each receive £75,000.
Councillor Paul Garner, Depute Leader said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to directly influence the improvements in these much loved parks. I encourage everyone to take part in the vote and help us decide how best to improve Kinneil Estate and Callendar Park for the enjoyment of all residents."
