Perth and Kinross Council has granted permission for Persimmon North Scotland to develop 209 energy-efficient new homes in Crieff.
Persimmon's North Scotland team will deliver much-needed new homes at Broich Road on the edge of the town, after their proposal was formally approved by Perth and Kinross Council's Planning and Placemaking Committee.
The plans include a variety of high-quality new homes, ranging from two-bedroom terraces to five-bedroom detached homes. They have been specifically designed to meet the needs of the local housing market and incorporate a focus on energy efficiency and the path to net zero. The new homes will come with options for solar panels and electric car charging points to support new homeowners to cut carbon and lower household bills.
52 of the new homes will be transferred to a housing association to help local people in housing need and reduce the 3,300-long housing waiting list in Perth and Kinross.
The investment in Crieff will also deliver a number of other local benefits, including funding for the local primary and secondary schools, new play parks and areas of open public space, active travel routes and a new landscaped woodland path.
The development will create around 80 local jobs each year in the construction sector, with a further 88 in the local supply chain. Work is expected to get underway later this year.
Robert Patrick, Persimmon North Scotland Land Director, said:
“We're delighted to have been given the go-ahead for our plans for a new Crieff community and I want to thank the Council for their support. We'll continue to work closely with the Council and the local community to ensure this investment has a positive impact on the whole of Crieff.
“Nearly half of our customers are first-time buyers and with the average price of our homes 20% below the market average in Scotland, we're proud to be opening the door to home ownership for more local families."
