Dundee Council's City Governance Committee is set to consider a new Corporate Procurement Strategy for 2024-27, as part of ongoing efforts to boost the local economy and support local firms will be outlined to councillors.

The City Governance Committee will consider a Corporate Procurement Strategy for 2024-2027 at its next meeting on Monday June 10.

Councillors will hear how the procurement strategy will help meet the delivery of wider Council Plan objectives. These include reducing child poverty and inequality, delivering inclusive economic growth, tackling climate change, building resilient and empowered communities and designing a modern council.


A report explains how community wealth building efforts will be supported through increased local tendering opportunities.

The strategy has also been designed to help with reductions in carbon emissions, informed by work undertaken by the council’s climate change team.

Committee convener Councillor John Alexander said: "We are determined to make the city a better place for everyone, and this latest version of our Procurement Strategy shows that the council is working hard to maximise the benefits of our spending locally.

"Our Council Plan is designed to improve our communities and it is vital that procurement supports these objectives.

"Community wealth building and reducing carbon emissions are crucial targets for the council and I am pleased to see how the strategy is developing these themes."
