SP Energy Networks has announced a programme of improvement works in Glasgow until the 14th June.
The improvement works are part of SP's mission to enhance network capacity and resilience, and support Glasgow's vision to become the UK's first net zero carbon city by 2030. These efforts include upgrading cables and substations in the area to support the uptake of electric cars and buses, and digital services in Glasgow. This initiative will also ensure a more resilient power supply for both residents and businesses across the city.
The works are currently underway and are expected to be completed on Friday 14th June. No planned interruptions to the electricity supplies are expected during the delivery of this work. If any residents or businesses do experience an unexpected power cut, contact the national power cut line by dialling 105.
Traffic Management will be in place on Victoria Road and Maxwell Road with Victoria Road closed at Eglinton Toll for the duration of the works.
Albert Santandreu, Head of Delivery, Glasgow District said: "The uprating of cabling and substations in the Southside is essential to ensure we continue to provide a resilient and reliant electricity network for our customers in the area. Completing these upgrades now will help support the uptake of low emission transport and infrastructure for digital services across the city.
"We will have traffic management in place for the duration of the works which will hopefully help keep disruption to a minimum, nonetheless, we would like apologise to anyone inconvenienced by this work and thank everyone for their patience as we carry out these essential works."
