Morrison Construction Building Central have welcomed the news that four projects have been nominated for Scottish Design Awards.
Nominated in the 'Building or Project' category, HMP & Young Offender Institution (YOI) Stirling, designed by Holmes Miller, comprises seven primarily single-storey buildings, including a front of house, central hub, retreat, and animal care facilities. The project embraces thoughtful landscaping and capitalises on scenic views of the historic landscape.
Designed by HLM Architects, the award-winning National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) for the University of Strathclyde is operationally carbon neutral in design and has been shortlisted in the 'Commercial/Office/Hotel Building or Project' category for its exemplary approach to sustainability and climate mitigation.
Morrison Construction's significant role in renewing and expanding the school's estate across the country, from the Highlands and Islands to the Borders region, is highlighted by their nomination in the 'Education Building or Project' category for the state-of-the-art Wallyford Learning Campus, designed by JM Architects.
In addition, Paisley Town Hall, refurbished by Holmes Miller, earns its place in the 'Retrofit' category. The redesign includes enhancements such as increased seating capacity, modernised lighting and sound systems, and a revamped stage, preserving the town's heritage.
David Ewing, Managing Director for Morrison Construction Building Central, commented: "We are delighted that four projects have earned nominations for this year's awards, showcasing the outstanding efforts of our team. Congratulations to all involved for delivering projects that have provided high quality facilities for the local community."
The awards ceremony will take place on 27 June at Double Tree Hilton, Glasgow.
