Avant Homes have been awarded unanimous approval for the development of 92 new homes on land at Windygoul South in Tranent.
East Lothian Planning Committee had previously granted planning permission in principle for the wider Windygoul South site, including 561 residential units, a school expansion site and sports pitch, was granted in December 2019 and construction on parts of the site are underway.
This latest application is for 66 detached and 26 semi-detached of 10 different house types. All of the houses will be two-storey in height and a mix of five, four and three bedrooms. All are private houses for sale, with the affordable housing element being accommodated on other parts of the wider site. No objections had been received.
A retrospective application for CCTV and lighting at East Gate, Hummel Road, Gullane was unanimously approved except for one camera, which must be removed within four months to protect the privacy and amenity of a neighbouring residential property. The application was called off the Scheme of Delegation by Councillor Findlay due to the issue of neighbour privacy. Two letters had been received from the same objector.
The construction of a new house in garden ground of a property at West Bay Road, North Berwick, had been recommended for refusal by planning officers and was called off the Scheme of Delegation List by Councillor McFarlane due to the mix of developments already in existence on the street. A total of 27 representations had been received, of which 26 objected to the plans. Following a debate, members voted nine to one to uphold the recommendation for refusal, the reasons for which include that the design of the house would not be in keeping with the North Berwick Conservation Area, it would have an overbearing impact on a neighbouring property and concerns regarding the lack of land available for garden space for the property.
