Transport Scotland's North West trunk road operating company, BEAR Scotland, is set to start essential resurfacing and road markings improvements on the A9 southbound dual carriageway north and south of the Daviot junction, near Inverness.

Surfacing and road marking improvements will start at 7pm on Tuesday 16 April and will last nine nights with all works scheduled to be completed by 6am on the morning of Saturday 27 April. No works will take place over the weekend.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland's North West Representative said: "This crucial surfacing project on the A9 north and south of the Daviot Junction will fix existing defects and significantly enhance the driving experience for all motorists.

"Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.


"To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates."

To ensure the safety of both workers and road users, nighttime lane closures will be implemented on both the southbound and northbound carriageways, with a convoy system. The central crossovers at both the Daviot (West) and Daviot (East) junctions will also be closed during the works.

Motorists wishing to leave the Daviot (West) junction to head southbound via the central crossover and northbound motorists wishing to turn right into the B9154 Daviot (east) junction will be diverted northbound on the A9 to the Milton of Leys Junction. They should then follow the signed the diversion, taking the third exit at the roundabout, travel along the B9177 underneath the A9, take the first exit at the next roundabout and then rejoin the A9 southbound and continue on their journey.

Motorists wishing to join the northbound carriageway from the B9154 Daviot (East) Junction will be led through the closure when safe to do so by a Traffic Management operative.

During non-working hours, the temporary traffic management measures will be lifted.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
