BEAR Scotland are continuing work on a number of active travel projects across the North West, designed to benefit cyclists and walkers.

The cycle path at the A9 Dalnaspidal, part of National Cycle Route 7, was resurfaced to give cyclists a smoother experience.

Widening and upgrading markings on National Cycle Route 1 at the A9 Kessock has also made journeys safer for cyclists.

Emily Bowie of Velocity, Inverness, said: "The improvements to the cycle path are great as it allows our Cycle 2 Health participants to safely ride alongside each other, facilitating great conversations and shared experiences on our rides. The improved path is also far more user-friendly for trikes, allowing our participants to ride with ease."


And at Fort William, BEAR constructed a new path parallel to the A830, linking the popular Linnhe Lochside Holidays park with the Annat Industrial Estate.

BEAR Scotland also installed cycle counters at five locations across the North West, helping prioritise future projects and provide data to Cycling Scotland to promote healthy living and safe active travel.
