Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has announced the launch of construction work on a new housing development at Sibbalds Wynd in Bathgate, following an extensive programme of pre-construction work.
The development will provide 189 much-needed new homes, including 29 affordable homes for social rent that will be delivered in partnership with Wheatley Group.
Sibbalds Wynd will offer homebuyers an impressive choice of two, three, four and five bedroom homes which will launch for sale in the next few months. These homes will include Electric Vehicle Charging Points and Solar PV panels to help reduce the carbon footprint of the development.
Within the development, there will be new play areas, and ten acres of open space will be retained and improved for the use of residents. A sustainable urban drainage system will manage surface water, and a green corridor will also be introduced to the south of the proposed development, providing a wildlife link to Little Boghead Nature Park.
Work will also include new bus stops on Sibbalds Brae, along with footpaths and cycle links to the existing Bathgate cycle networks together with the associated infrastructure required for a development of this scale.
Sibbalds Wynd signals Taylor Wimpey East Scotland’s latest commitment to the West Lothian area and complements its developments nearby at Calderwood in East Calder, as well as Auldcathie View and Seton Rise in Winchburgh.
Pauline Mills, Technical Director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland said: "We are so pleased that construction work on our new homes at Sibbalds Wynd has now started, and we would like to thank the local community for their patience while the extensive pre-construction programme was completed.
"Providing new homes in Bathgate cements our commitment to West Lothian and complements our other local developments in East Calder and Winchburgh.
"As well as an impressive range of new homes and substantial community contributions, Sibbalds Wynd will provide a range of economic benefits for the local area.
"This includes supporting around 661 jobs during construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses from those who choose to live in one of the new homes this development aims to deliver."
