Clark Contracts Now On Site For Bught Park Improvement Project

Construction News Image
The Bught Park improvement project in Inverness has reached another major milestone as lead contractors Clark Contracts arrive on site.

The Park is being refurbished with sustainability and the local community in the fore front of the Highland Council's mind, in what will eventually create a year-round venue for locals and visitors to enjoy.

This week will see the commencement of the demolition of the existing changing rooms to the rear of the stadium in preparation for the construction of the new replacement changing facilities. The old changing rooms are cramped, uninsulated, unheated and poorly ventilated.

In contrast, the new replacement changing facilities will be fully accessible and well insulated with energy efficient underfloor heating and mechanical ventilation heat recovery systems. An innovative wastewater heat recovery system to the changing room showers will provide further energy savings in conjunction with ground source heat pumps which will provide renewable energy for hot water and heating.

Bught Park improvements is one of three projects, along the River Ness, which have benefitted from almost £20 million of the UK Government's Levelling Up Fund grant. These projects will boost the city's sporting and cultural attractions, preserve key heritage assets, help attract more tourists and assist in achieving net zero carbon targets.

The Highland Council's Inverness City and Area Leader Councillor Ian Brown, and Co-Chair of the Levelling Up Fund Programme Board, said: "I am delighted to hear that the contractor is onsite, with works due to start imminently. This milestone in the project takes us a step closer to being able to offer great sporting opportunities for people living in Inverness and the surrounding area that not only fulfils the needs of the users, but which does so in a sustainable manner."

All three Levelling Up Fund projects will support the UK Government Net Zero Carbon agenda by providing sustainable energy to Northern Meeting Park, sustainable energy to Bught Park and a renewable Energy Centre for Inverness Castle.
