CCG Launches New Almarnock Housing Development

Construction News Image
CCG (Scotland) has officially started work on a new 41 home development in Almarnock in Glasgow's east end on behalf of Thenue Housing.

Work has begun at the location not far from Dalmarnock railway station on a gap site which will create 22 houses and 19 flats.

The development, located on Connal Street just off Springfield Road, will consist of 2, 3 and 4-bedroom family homes and 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments.

The total cost is £8.9 million and they are due for completion in early 2025.

Jointly launching the start of the work, Thenue and CCG said the homes would deliver much-needed properties in the east end.

They are being built on land which was used as an overflow car park for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Thenue Chief Executive Gary Naylor said: "We are delighted to be on-site at Connal Street as we continue to deliver on our promise to tenants to keep on building new homes.

"We acknowledge the financial support of Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government in making our latest development happen.

"Thenue knows from our tenant feedback that continuing to build energy-efficient affordable homes is something which figures highly in our tenants' expectations."

CCG most recently worked with Thenue on a development of 18 houses and flats in Blackhill which were completed in March this year.

CCG Managing Director David Wylie said: "Working with our design team partners MAST Architects and G3 Consulting Engineers, CCG are delighted to return to Dalmarnock with Connal Street.

"We know the area very well. The highly energy-efficient new homes will be created in our advanced manufacturing premises located just 2.5 miles away in Cambuslang whilst the site also neighbours the former Athletes' Village, a project that we helped deliver as part of the City Legacy consortium. We fully understand the positive impact the development will have on the local community.

"We can also proudly state this positive impact will extend beyond the new homes with three new jobs, eight work placements and engagement with local schools amongst the various initiatives that will be delivered during the construction programme."

CCG recently completed another development in Dalmarnock on behalf of West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA). Springfield Cross comprises 36, Passivhaus-accredited homes and is the largest residential development of its kind in the city of Glasgow.

A further development of 90 Passivhaus homes is also under construction on behalf of WSHA in the north of the city at Dundashill which, at the point of accreditation, will be the largest of its kind in Scotland.
