CCG Group has announced the successful completion of a programme of planned maintenance works in Glasgow's West End on behalf of Yorkhill Housing Association.
CCG, one of Scotland's largest construction and manufacturing companies, commenced works on behalf of the association in September and has since installed 215 new windows to 40 occupied households at Overnewton Court.
Developed in partnership with REHAU UK, their windows are fabricated just 7.5 miles away in their bespoke premises in Cambuslang using PVCu.
A robust, lightweight plastic, the material composition of the product is resistant to weathering and is highly durable whilst advanced manufacturing processes deliver quality of workmanship, a combination that supports the tenant as well as the Yorkhill HA's long-term maintenance projections.
The residence in the west-end community has also been the subject of a fund-funding exercise that led to the installation of a defibrillator. Local resident, Gurmeet Mattu, canvased neighbours and together, through various charitable events and funding from Yorkhill Housing Association and Glasgow City Council, raised the necessary funds for its installation.
Yorkhill Housing Association CEO, Tony Mallaghan, said: "We are very pleased in conjunction with CCG, to be able to provide high-quality energy-efficient windows for our tenants. CCG has worked hard to ensure there was as little disruption as possible for people. These windows will help keep people's homes warm for many years to come and the Association and tenants are very happy with the results. In particular, we welcome the addition of a comfort handle by CCG to the windows which makes opening and closing them much easier for users.
"We are also very pleased with the partnership working between the residents of Overnewton Court, CCG, Glasgow City Council and ourselves to gain a Defibrillator for the area."
CCG Asset Management Manager, Jim Cunningham, whose division was also responsible for the installation of the new windows, said: "CCG's integrated supply and fit service, and partnership with REHAU UK are the key drivers behind the success of this project. We are proud to be using our own products to deliver high-performing residential upgrades in communities such as Yorkhill and we thank Yorkhill HA for their support throughout the course of the programme."
Commenting on the installation of the defibrillator, Jim added: "It is especially positive to see community members coming together."
"We do of course hope that it is never needed but it is without doubt a valuable asset to have in place in the instance of an emergency situation and we commend Mr Mattu, residents and partners for getting the defibrillator in place."
