The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Scotland has announced the appointment of four new Board members.

Angela Currie, chief executive of Hanover Scotland, Kenny Gillespie, head of housing at Falkirk Council, Shelley Hutton, head of external communications at Places for People, and Craig Sanderson, former chief executive of Link Housing, have joined the CIH Scotland Board.

They replace Sue Shone, director of housing services at Whiteinch and Scotstoun housing association and Paul Murphy, senior corporate services officer at Forgewood & Garrion Housing Co-operatives, who have stepped down after completing two terms on the Board.

Commenting on her appointment, Angela said: "As a passionate and proud member of CIH, I'm delighted to be joining the Scotland board. The housing sector is facing an unprecedented number of challenges and I'm looking forward to being part of the team to support the sector to meet the challenges head on."

Commenting on his appointment, Kenny said: "It's an honour to join the board of CIH Scotland. I welcome the opportunity to work together with other Board members and housing professionals, using my years of experience and skills to help shape the future of housing in Scotland. Commenting on her appointment, Shelley said: "I am really excited to have been appointed to the CIH Scotland board. CIH serves its professional members and organisations well and I hope my work in the sector and CIH membership over the past 30 years can contribute to the important work that CIH does.

"I am especially interested in how we influence stakeholders on matters that are important to us, telling the story that housing is a great sector to work in and improving diversity.

"I'm looking forward to working with the other board members and the fabulous CIH Scotland team."

Commenting on his appointment, Craig said: "In the face of worldwide political, economic and environmental tumult, it is all the more essential that CIH and its members focus on an adequate availability of quality social housing, and as part of the Scotland board, I am ready to help where I can."

Responding to the above appointments, Gavin Smith, chair of the Scotland board said: "I'd like to thank everybody who applied to join the Scotland board and brought a range of expertise and experience to the recruitment process. I am delighted to welcome Angela, Kenny, Shelley and Craig onto the board and I am confident that they will bring a new and different dimension with their individual backgrounds, passion and commitment to the profession and to the work of CIH Scotland.

"I'd also like to thank both Sue and Paul who are stepping down from the board for their work, dedication and commitment over the years. I am sure that they will continue to work to raise the profile and standards of the housing profession, as well as the benefits of CIH membership in their personal and professional capacity."
