North Ayrshire Council has launched a public consultation on the proposed development of it's "largest-ever" housing development.
The council is seeking views on proposals for the former Ayrshire Central Hospital site to be transformed into a modern, energy efficient estate with 202 new homes.
The proposals will see 202 properties developed on the site of the former maternity unit with a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes.
The £50m development which will be supported by an estimated £20m of Scottish Government funding - will include a mix of general needs properties along with homes for wheelchair users and amenity bungalows to meet a wide range of residents' needs.
Councillor Tony Gurney, Cabinet Member for Green Environment and Economy at North Ayrshire Council, said: "When work gets under way next year, we will be embarking on North Ayrshire Council's largest ever housing development.
"We are already well on our way to meeting our commitment to build 1,625 new homes across North Ayrshire by 2028 and the homes at the former maternity unit site will bring us even closer to that target.
"The new sustainable homes will include zero direct emissions heating systems powered by air source heat pumps. They will all have enhanced building fabric, including triple glazing, to minimise heat loss and will include solar photovoltaic panels to help reduce energy bills. Each home will also include in curtilage provision for electrical vehicle charging. All these measures will support the Council's ambition for North Ayrshire to be 'net zero' by 2030."
