Fife Council has announced the successful completion of a £400,000 programme of improvement works at Lade Braes in St Andrews.
In partnership with Sustrans, a path network from the outskirts of St Andrews into the centre of the town has been transformed by work to:
• widen, repair and resurface the existing path
• replace and repair broken seats
• install shared use route signage
• provide solar lighting at ground level
• remove unhealthy and unstable trees.
The Council's communities spokesperson Cllr Linda Erskine welcomed the completion of the project: "As a council, we're committed to investing in our communities and our priority of promoting health and wellbeing.
"It's great to see this work finished and people enjoying the improvements to the path network. Working in partnership with Sustrans this has been a significant investment in the local landscape and we hope the work that's been done will allow continued use of this popular path for years to come."
Conor Cross, Grant Manager for Sustrans said: "It's great to see the regeneration of the Lade Braes path network now complete. The improvements delivered not only provide access to the local greenspace, but also open up huge opportunities for walking, wheeling and cycling in and around St Andrews. We'd like to thank the community and our partners for their hard work and ambition in getting this done."
Funding for the project was received through Places for Everyone, an active travel infrastructure programme backed by Transport Scotland and administered by Sustrans.
