Network Rail Continues Anniesland Accessibility Works
Network Rail is progressing a programme of accessibility works at Anniesland station.
Engineers are continuing to install two new lifts at street level on Great Western Road as part of the project, which is expected to take 12 months to complete.
These will make accessing the platforms easier for those with impaired mobility and those travelling with luggage, children, or bicycles.
The existing footbridge and the steps up to each platform will remain in place but, some temporary changes to the station will be in place, and signposted, during construction.
Amanda Naughton, scheme project manager for Network Rail, said: "We're really pleased to be making these important access improvements at Anniesland station.
"The proximity of the railway and platforms to the road means we're working in such a restricted space. With that being the case, closing the footpath and part of the road is the only way we can work safely and with enough room for the necessary equipment.
"While it's a big change for passengers and for everyone walking or driving through Anniesland Cross, we'll make every effort to cause the minimal amount of disruption.
"We appreciate everyone's patience while we complete the work at the station.”
Anniesland residents were given a first look at plans at an information session in Netherton Community Centre earlier in the summer.
For anyone who was unable to attend the information session or would like to know more about the project, they can find the latest updates on Scotland's Railway website www.scotlandsrailway.com/projects
