CCG (Scotland) has hosted representatives from Glasgow City Council during an official visit to a new, 46-home development in the west end of the city.

Convenor for Housing Councillor Kenny McLean, Councillor Patricia Ferguson along with colleagues from Glasgow City Councils' Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability department (NRS), Principal Officer Geoff Harker and Head of Housing Jennifer Sheddan were met by representatives from Partick Housing Association and CCG who are leading the delivery of Bearsden Road, a development of 46 affordable flats in Anniesland.

Providing a much-needed boost for new build housing supply in the west of the city, a mix of one and two-bedroom flats will be available for social rent (20) and mid-market rent (26), with 4 ground-floor flats designed to be fully wheelchair-accessible.

Councillor Kenny McLean, Convener for Housing at Glasgow City Council, said: "It's great to see work progressing on these social-rent and mid-market rent flats in Anniesland, which will both meet the needs of a range of people and bring new life to this site beside the canal. These are much-needed homes in this part of the city, and the council was delighted to support this development, which I'm sure will be a great one in which to live."

Partick Housing Association's Chair, Alan Howie said: "We're delighted to be making good progress with our latest development. These wonderful new flats are transforming a vacant site in the West End and will provide much-needed quality affordable homes."

Partick Housing Association's Chief Executive, Stewart MacKenzie added: "We'd like to thank the Council, our funders, other partners and the community for their support at Bearsden Road."

The masterplan consists of two blocks of flats reaching five storeys, which will offer a renewed sense of frontage to Bearsden Road and Crow Road.

Outdoor amenity space and parking will also be provided along with creating a new pedestrian and cycle path, complete with public art, adjacent to the Forth and Clyde Canal.

CCG Director, Calum Murray, said: "CCG is delighted with the progress being made at Bearsden Road. Upon completion in 2024, it will represent six years of hard work to realise this project; from acquisition to concept and delivery, the process has been led by CCG in partnership with Partick Housing Association and MAST Architects and it is a great example of how collaboration and partnership working can deliver much-needed affordable housing on what is a very complicated site.

"This development will deliver real change for the Anniesland community, whilst the homes themselves will be accessible and highly energy-efficient for the future residents. I look forward to seeing how works progress over the next year."

The £10 million development is set to provide a much-needed boost for affordable new housing supply in Anniesland and the West End. Bearsden Road is being financed by Partick Housing Association, together with £5.4m grant funding from Glasgow City Council's Affordable Housing Supply Programme (AHSP).
