Arc-Tech Welcomes Two New Trade Apprentices

Construction News Image
Arc-Tech (Scotland) has welcomed two new trade apprentices to its business, representing the seventh straight year the company has embarked upon an apprentice recruitment drive.

Specialists in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) service installations, Arc-Tech employs over 150 personnel and has an annual turnover in excess of £25m thanks to a sustained contract pipeline with some of the country's most well-known construction companies.

Dylan Thomson (17) from Larkhall will undertake his heating engineering apprenticeship with South Lanarkshire College alongside Louis Conlon (18) from Edinburgh who has transitioned to his electrical apprenticeship with West Lothian College from a site-based role with Arc-Tech's labouring team.

The boys join an additional 17 trade apprentices already employed by the firm and will now undertake a 4-year programme.

Arc-Tech (Scotland) Contracts Director, Alan Rogers, said: "On behalf of the Arc-Tech Board of Directors and all of our staff, I am delighted to welcome Dylan and Louis to our business. Since our formation in 2016, we have placed a great deal of emphasis on providing youth employment opportunities – trade apprenticeships offer a great platform for young men and women to join our industry whilst our commitment to provide further training for career development is invaluable to our long-term growth objectives."

Nathan Gallacher is a recent example of Arc-Tech's graduate retention. Nathan, from Wishaw, joined the business an electrical apprentice in 2018 and has since transitioned to the role of Project Engineer in the company's Renewables division. He is one of four graduate trainees to have secured full-time jobs in the last year.

He said: "I have loved my time with Arc-Tech and credit my trade apprenticeship with giving me the valuable skills I have today in my role as Project Engineer. I work in the Renewables division and support a wide variety of projects across the country; it is an area of our industry that is going to continue to grow and I am excited to be part of that. I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone and wish our new apprentices the very best of luck."
