North Lanarkshire Council has welcomed the progress being made in the regeneration of Airdrie town centre.
The regeneration of the former Orrs department store is continuing to take shape, with handover of 20 new homes and two commercial premises scheduled for December this year. The construction of 31 new homes in Northburn Avenue is also in the final stages with many of the final fittings now underway.
Jim Logue, Leader of the Council said: "These eagerly anticipated developments will provide a much-needed boost in the heart of the town. The Orrs site is in a prominent central location and the new homes and commercial units will breathe new life into the area.
"And the £5.8m redevelopment of the former Northburn Avenue flats will provide a mix of affordable home sizes for rent in a sought-after area of the town.
"We are continuing to enhance our regeneration plans for Airdrie and it is exciting to see these projects nearing completion.
"We have a clear vision for all our town centres to rejuvenate and repopulate them and to make them more sustainable in the future. By creating new retail and housing developments, we can help create an environment that encourages local businesses and provides greater opportunities for local people and the economy."
