CHAP Group (Aberdeen) has announced the start of work on a new 152-bedroom Student Accommodation project in Dundee.
The project involves the construction of a modern, purpose-built student accommodation facility that will provide high-quality living spaces for students in Dundee and is being developed by Maven, alongside Glenmore Group and supported by Axiom Project Management and CAG Architects, Indev Consult and Hutcheon Services.
The Hessian Student Accommodation will feature 152 studio apartments, complemented by communal spaces including Common Room with study, dining and games areas, Cinema and Gym. There will also be new commercial opportunities on the ground floor facing onto Douglas Street. The development is expected to be completed in Summer 2024.
Commenting on the project, CHAP Group's Managing Director Hugh Craigie said: "The Hessian Student Accommodation Project is a significant addition to CHAP Group's portfolio and is part of our ambitious growth plans as we move into a new geographical area. We are thrilled to have been chosen as main contractor for this exciting project and to have the opportunity to work with such esteemed partners. This is a significant and valued opportunity for CHAP Group, and we look forward to proving our capabilities and expertise in the student accommodation sector."
Paul Johnston, Partner at Maven added: "We are delighted to be working with CHAP Group on the Hessian Student Accommodation project, in Dundee. We are committed to delivering high-quality developments that meet the modern needs of students and we believe that CHAP Group shares our vision and values. Their expertise and experience in the construction industry make them an ideal contractor for this project, and we look forward to working with them to deliver this exciting development."
This project is a significant milestone for CHAP, being the first major contract they have undertaken in Tayside. The Hessian project will contribute to CHAP's recently announced growth plans to expand into new markets and deliver high-quality construction projects within the Tayside region. CHAP Group believes there is a gap in the Dundee market for a contractor of their size and expertise, and this combined with their broad construction experience makes Tayside an exciting proposition for the firm.
