A new interactive activity trail has been unveiled in Westcliff following a community consultation held by social housing landlord Loretto.
Loretto, part of Wheatley Group, created the trail as a result of a recent 'You Choose Challenge', which encourages tenants to submit ideas on how to improve their community.
Once ideas have been shortlisted, tenants are asked to vote for their favourite projects. The majority of the vote in Westcliff went to a project to improve the area for the local children.
The trail, which was built by Scotplay, is open to everyone in the community and features games such as hopscotch and snakes and ladders.
Nicola Rennie lives in the area with her two daughters Holly, seven, and Lucy, six, and they are delighted with the new trail.
"My daughters love it. We use it daily and it's become part of our routine on the way to and from school. It's a focal point of the day and a great addition to the neighbourhood."
Chair of Loretto, Eric Gibson, said: "Our You Choose Challenge is a great way to encourage customers to have their voices heard and make their community a great place to live.
"We hope this new activity trail will promote a sense of togetherness among families living in the community now and in the future."
The project was funded by CCG as part of our community benefit obligations in the delivery of Talisman Avenue, a development of 46 affordable homes that was completed in 2020.
The community benefit donation is one of many that have been fulfilled with Wheatley Group over the last 18 months. As a result of three project completions in Glasgow in our previous financial year, over £90,000 was donated to community-based initiatives, alongside the creation of jobs and youth employment opportunities, with further localised investment from our forthcoming works in the city later this year and from our live activities in Locharbriggs with Wheatley Homes South.
