Seagreen Invests £120,000 In Wellbank Community Playpark

Construction News Image
A new playpark has been officially opened in the Angus village of Wellbank following a £120,000 upgrade by Seagreen Wind Energy's Community Benefit Fund.

Work to the new playpark, which is located next to the busy Wellbank Hall, got underway earlier this year and saw the first upgrades made to the park in over 50 years. This included installing a range of new equipment.

As part of the delivery of the Scotland's largest offshore wind project, Seagreen Wind Energy Limited, the Seagreen Community Benefit Fund was established which aims to benefit communities located in the Angus area.

Karen Gerrard, Chairwoman for Wellbank Hall Committee, said: "It's a big change for the local children but it's going to have such a positive impact, this is the first time the park has been upgraded in 50 years, so it's exciting for the whole community to witness the transformation. We're grateful to Seagreen Wind Energy for providing the funding, I'm sure many families will enjoy the park for years to come."

Craig Mullen, Community Investment Manager for Seagreen, said: "Wellbank Park is the first major capital project funded through the Seagreen Community Fund and to see the work completed is fantastic. We are committed to ensuring our renewable assets benefit the local communities in which they are located and that they create a lasting legacy. It was great working with the Wellbank Community, and we hope the redevelopment of the park will benefit the local community in the long term."
