Barratt Developments North Scotland has unveiled Mill Drive, a newly developed road at its Riverside Quarter development in Bucksburn as part of a multi-million-pound commitment to improving local roads, services and amenities.
A ribbon cutting ceremony took place at Riverside Quarter hosted by David Palmer, Managing Director for Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Scotland, and was attended by MSP Jackie Dunbar for Aberdeen Donside. The road has been designed to improve traffic flow in the area and reduce traffic volume transiting through Mugiemoss Road.
Riverside Quarter forms one of the phases of the redevelopment by Barratt North Scotland of the former Davidson Paper Mill site, located between the Bucks Burn and the River Don in Aberdeen.
Mill Drive will connect to Stoneywood Road with a four-way traffic light system allowing traffic to turn left or right from Mill Drive. Links between Dyce, Bridge of Don and Danestone will be improved, providing a safer and decongested alternative to the original Mugiemoss Road. Double yellow lines will be in place to prohibit parked cars which currently exist on Mugiemoss Road and buses will follow this route with immediate effect, with an easily accessible stop for locals.
David Palmer, Managing Director of Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Scotland, said: "We place great importance on designing our developments with the needs of residents and the wider community in mind.
"We're proud of our restoration of the existing built environment including Davidson's Mill chimney, as well as the high quality, energy efficient homes we are building now and in the years to come. We have committed £4.2 million to local services and amenities such as pedestrian bridges and schools.
"In addition to this, we've invested £7.25 million improving local roads and infrastructure."
