Rural surveyors and consultant, Davidson & Robertson, has announced the appointment of Graeme Ferguson as Director within the Rural and Agency department.
Graeme joins D&R with over twenty years' experience as a Chartered Surveyor and has a strong background in rural and commercial property. A RICS Registered Valuer, he has worked in the Highland's for over 20 years and has acted for private clients, corporate and multi-national companies, government bodies, and community groups.
Graeme, previously a Partner at Bidwells, has vast experience in a wide range of rural property matters – from estate management, sales, valuations, utility management, planning and community engagement to diversification projects.
Key projects he has been involved with include the management of the £16 million redevelopment of the Kingshouse Hotel in Glencoe. Graeme has also supported the community-owned Isle of Gigha and negotiates compensation for clients affected by the 275kV Crossaig to Inveraray overhead transmission line.
Based in Fort William, Graeme's work with Davidson & Robertson takes him the length and breadth of Scotland, but is predominantly centred in Argyll, Perthshire, Inverness-shire and Caithness.
Lewis Anderson, Director and Head of Rural and Agency at D&R said: "We are delighted that Graeme Ferguson has joined us, he brings with him a huge amount of senior level experience and is well known and respected across the Highlands.
"Working together we're excited to build the momentum we've been gaining across the Highlands and central Scotland, where we are seeing growing demand for our work in sales, valuations, project management, and utility negotiations.
"Projects like Kingshouse and Isle of Ghia demonstrate Graeme's excellent ability to communicate and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike. This is really important to us as we grow our client base and our Rural and Agency Team.
On his appointment, Graeme said: "Davidson and Robertson are a well-respected business and I'm already enjoying being part of the team. Having a base in Fort William, is better for our clients in the area and it is certainly helping build our presence in the North and West Highlands for valuations and sales, property management and infrastructure projects.
"There is a huge amount of work with major infrastructure upgrades for electricity transmission and distribution in Argyll, and across the Western Highlands. We are representing clients whose land holdings and tenancies are significantly affected by the works which will take a number of years.
"It's important to be involved in the process at an early stage, with consultation looking at a wide range of issues including loss of land use, disturbance, reinstatement, and injurious affection (meaning loss of property value). D&R has been involved in this sector for many years, so we have a thorough understanding of the issues regularly faced."
