North Ayrshire has said that the next stage of their innovative plans for Saltcoats are reaching completion.
Local people and community groups have already had their say in a series of 'Place Framework' events which were set up to identify priorities and projects to address local needs and ambitions.
A number of exciting potential projects have emerged from these initial discussions.
A further event is taking place at the Harbour Suite, Saltcoats Town Hall on Wednesday 1 March to further consider the projects and how best they could be taken forward.
The emerging projects include:
• Activate vacant / under-used buildings in the town centre and on the seafront
• Support more activities and a town centre venue for young people
• Restore and reactivate the Harbour and Harbourmaster's House
• Enhance the look, feel and vibrancy of Dockhead Street and Hamilton Street
The event – which takes place from 5.45pm-8.30pm – will showcase some of these community-led ideas and give people and groups a chance to put forward their vision for taking things forward. It will also raise awareness of Place Based Investment Programme grant funding.
Councillor Tony Gurney, Cabinet Member for Economy and Climate Change, said: "We've had some amazing feedback and responses from the community so a massive thanks to everyone who helped and took part.
"Local communities know their towns better than anyone and their views have been invaluable as we develop new ideas and themes.
"We look forward to our latest event and moving forward with some exciting plans for the town."
