Work To Begin On New Environmentally Sensitive Glentress Cabins

Construction News Image
Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) has announced that work will begin later this month to develop 56 environmentally sensitive Forest Holidays cabins at Glentress.

This work, which is taking place in and around the current Buzzard's Nest car park, skills park and freeride area, is the latest phase of the Glentress Masterplan delivery.

This plan aims to boost tourism and the long-term future for economic growth in the Tweed Valley and South of Scotland.

John Dougan, FLS' South Region Manager, said: "This is a key moment in the redevelopment programme which brings much needed opportunities to local businesses and will create several new jobs . However, as with any major construction works, there will be some short-term disruption.

"We apologise for any inconvenience that this might cause and would like to ensure visitors that we have done our utmost to keep this to a minimum.

"Whilst the overall site will remain open, we would encourage visitors to follow signage whilst on site."

From 1 March 2023, the Buzzard's Nest car park will be closed and all visitor parking, which is now located in the main visitor hub area, will be clearly signposted on arrival. The freeride area will also be closed.

Public vehicles will not now be able to use the Buzzard's Nest road beyond the Go Ape facility.  Visitors, walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders will still be able to access the Skills area, which will remain open.

An uplift service will be available to ferry bikes and riders to the Skills area – check Adrenalin Uplift for details.

The rest of the forest remains open, and we ask visitors to follow all local signage to keep them and our staff safe.
