CCG (Scotland) has helped support communities in Glasgow to the tune of £91,000 as a result of three developments undertaken with Wheatley, Scotland's leading housing, care and property management group, during the 2021-2022 financial year.
The contribution was made to Wheatley Foundation, the charitable arm of Wheatley, as part of the Community Benefits clause in the Group's new-build and investment contracts.
Wheatley Foundation helps create opportunities for customers, including access to employment, training and learning as well as tackling social exclusion and working to alleviate the impacts of poverty.
A total of £54,000 was donated to the Foundation's Home Comforts service, which provides furniture and white goods, as a result of Hurlford Avenue, a 72-home development built by CCG on the site of a former primary school site in Garscadden.
The Foundation's education bursary programme, which helps people at college and university, was the recipient of a £20,000 donation from CCG which was delivered as a result of a 26-home development in Pollok.
Meanwhile, a third project, comprising 22 homes in Thornliebank, saw £17,000 donated to the Foundation's partnership with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which sends children a specially chosen book free of charge every month until their fifth birthday. Wheatley Group recently announced that a total of 25,000 books have been delivered to children across its communities since 2018.
Lynne Mitchell, Director of Wheatley Foundation, said: "Community Benefits is an important way for our contractors to support Wheatley communities and deliver wider social benefits in addition to the core purpose of a contract."
CCG Group HR Manager, Lynn Stodart, said: "Wheatley Group is one of CCG's biggest clients. Year-on-year, we have worked together to create great places and transform communities with the delivery of high-quality, low-energy homes and localised investment. In addition to the construction programme, we welcome the opportunity to engage and support communities and these projects are tangible examples of activity that create opportunities for local people."
