Angus-based property developer DJ Laing, has announced the start of construction works on a new commercial development.
Victoria Green, a multi-million pound project on the western gateway to Carnoustie will provide modern business and industrial units on the initial 14 acre site.
The development received detailed planning consent in February 2021 as part of a larger mixed use development plan by the company.
The original masterplan was the future vision of the late Heinz Voigt of the Voigt Partnership and partner David Laing, Chairman of the DJ Laing Group. The project has been the result of 15 years of hard work to bring modern industrial units/commercial premises in Carnoustie.
The new business park will provide an opportunity for new and existing businesses to locate within the popular coastal town and is adjacent to the A92 road network in an ideal location to Dundee.
This large modern business park is suitable for Class 4 Business, Class 5 General Industrial and Class 6 Storage and Distribution business types and can be designed and built specifically for the end users/occupiers.
The initial phase will provide small starter units which will be available to let to a variety of users/occupiers. The intention is then to develop the site in stages with a mix of small, medium and large industrial units suitable for commercial use including office accommodation.
The small starter units will be ready to occupy from spring 2023.
David Laing, Chairman of DJ Laing said: "We are delighted to finally bring this project and our latest investment plans to fruition and create high-quality business and industrial space in Carnoustie.
Victoria Green will provide businesses with an opportunity to relocate and thrive in a superb location that offers so much more than just a base for business."
Cllr Mark McDonald, Economic Development spokesperson said: "We continue to experience a high demand for prime industrial and business space in Angus. Alongside this our current commercial units/properties have a high occupancy rate, so the new business park at Victoria Green in Carnoustie is great news for Angus and encourage this and future economic growth in Angus through jobs and investment."
One of the key priorities for Angus Council is to make Angus 'a go to place for business' by engaging with businesses to develop services and work with the teams to make it easier, quicker and better to do business and invest in Angus. Angus Council's Economic Development department works in close partnership with a number of businesses and organisations to develop strong industry and sector links, through Invest In Angus to encourage business growth and investment.
