Morrison Construction Building Central's Communities and Social Impact team has won the Community Enrichment Award for the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) initiative at the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) Leading Lights Awards.
The Leading Lights Awards are a new initiative by CCS, recognising businesses and projects that continue to positively impact and contribute to the communities they are based in.
The judges assessed that the team's tailored Social Value Project Plan, worth almost £17.5m, had helped underprivileged young people through long-term career opportunities that will continue to benefit them in the future. It also sparked an inspirational interest in the next generation of construction professionals through workshops and work placement schemes and generated commercial opportunities by supporting small and medium-sized enterprises to become part of the supply chain.
This latest success follows on the back of recent social value award wins including the ROCCO (Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce) Invest in Renfrewshire prize and the GO Social Value Award for the Women's National Facility Project in Stirling.
Commenting on the awards, David Ewing, Managing Director of Morrison Construction Building Central, said: "With our commitment as a dedicated partner to CCS, we continually strive to build strong relationships within the communities in which we operate. The recognition for so many prestigious awards demonstrate our team's fantastic efforts and our desire as a business to give back to those who need it. Congratulations to everyone involved."
