A high-rise tower block development on the southside of Glasgow, delivered by CCG and MAST Architects on behalf of Wheatley Homes Glasgow and Lowther, has won a prestigious national award.

The Insulated Render and Cladding Association (INCA), formed in 1981, represent the External Wall Insulation (EWI) sector and promote technical excellence, high quality and best practice throughout the construction industry in the UK.

Their prestigious annual awards took place earlier this month with K Systems scooping the High-Rise Refurbishment (render / traditional finish) category for the transformation of the 17-storey Cartcraigs Road in Glasgow, delivered by CCG and partners.


Located within the confluence of Pollokshaws, the project involved installing an entirely new and fully fire-rated cladding system to offer a modern and revitalised exterior and improved thermal performance as a result of new EWI, IWI, and replacement windows.

Another project to have received acclaim on the evening was Hurlford Avenue, a new build residential development of 70 homes for mid-market rent that has transformed a former primary school site in Garscadden, west of Glasgow city centre.

Highly commended in the MMC/Offsite category, the development was also delivered by CCG on behalf of Wheatley Homes Glasgow and is one that is particularly innovative. CCG's enhanced, closed panel 'iQ' Timber System was used for the entirety of the build and was complete with a lightweight render system known as Aricco, a BBA-accredited drained ventilation system that is, firstly, installed off-site as a lightweight carrier board before being finished with a Silkolitt thin coat render on-site. The result is a sleek and modern finish that is fully fire-rated and incredibly low maintenance.
