Views Sought On Cowdenbeath Area Community Plan

Construction News Image
Fife Council is seeking input on the priorities for the Cowdenbeath Area Community Plan and the future development of Lochore Meadows Country Park.

The council is to host a series of workshops to provide locals in Cowdenbeath and surrounding areas and stakeholders the opportunity to make recommendations on the priorities.

These workshops are being delivered by Democratic Society and Strathclyde University, thanks to an externally funded research project. The sessions are open to everyone over the age of 18 who lives, works, or has an interest in the Cowdenbeath and surrounding areas.

They aim to provide an opportunity for local people and stakeholders to come together and make recommendations on the priorities for the Cowdenbeath Area and the future development of Lochore Meadows Country Park.

This event is free to attend, with vouchers offered for attendance and taking part in the research (£40 for each workshop attended). We want everyone to have the opportunity to contribute.

There is a selection of dates and times for the three workshops which will take place at the Willie Clarke Visitor Centre, Lochore Meadows Country Park.

Workshop 1 on 12 November from 9.30-13.00 or 14.00-17.30. Participants will be helping set the priorities for the Cowdenbeath Local Community Plan, which provides a focus for service delivery over the next three years. The group will look to identify what the community feel are the key challenges for the area to help target support and resources.

Workshop 2 on 18 and 19 November from 9.30-13.00 or 14.00-17.30. Participants will be asked to generate ideas for the development of Lochore Meadows Country Park. The group wants to generate as many different ideas as possible, big and small, to help improve the park. Some key areas for consideration will be the playpark, nature areas, and events.

Workshop 3 on 2 and 3 December from 9.30-13.00 or 14.00-17.30. Participants will consider the ideas generated at a previous workshop, discussing, developing, prioritising and putting forward recommendations for the future of the park.

Fife Voluntary Action are assisting Fife Council with recruiting attendees for the workshops and people can sign up on their website.

In addition to the workshops, the council will also be running an online consultation in November and December to gather feedback on some specific proposals we’re currently developing, so those who are unable to attend will still get the opportunity to have their say on the future developments at Lochore Meadows.
