Morrison Construction Hands Over Distillery Development

Construction News Image
Morrison Construction has successfully handed over The Cairn Distillery in Grantown-on-Spey to client Gordon & MacPhail.

The new state-of-the-art Cairn Distillery, located in the Cairngorms, received its final handover with Donald McLachlan, Managing Director of Morrison Construction Building Highland, Richard Forsyth, Managing Director of Forsyth of Rothes and Ewen Mackintosh, Managing Director of Gordon & MacPhail taking part in a ceremony to mark the occasion.

The whisky distillery sited on the river Spey is set to open later this month, featuring a sedum green roof which was recently installed to create a thriving eco-friendly habitat, whisky-tasting rooms, a visitor centre with retail space and a coffee shop.

Ewen Mackintosh, Managing Director of Gordon and MacPhail, commented: "This is another significant milestone for Gordon & MacPhail as we take over full control of the building. It's a tremendous achievement to deliver this wonderful new building in such a stunning location – and all while facing the challenges of a global pandemic."

Donald McLachlan, Managing Director of Morrison Construction Building Highland, said: "Morrison Construction has a proud track record for delivering high-quality distillery facilities across the Highland region, and the new Cairn Distillery is a fantastic addition to that. We hope that Gordon & McPhail go on to produce many more fine malts from the new stills, and look forward to sampling some of that work in the future!"
