BEAR Scotland has announced a programme of essential road surface improvement works for the A835 at Contin West from Sunday 23 October on behalf of Transport Scotland.

The project will see 430 metres of the A835 at Contin West resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists.

The project is scheduled to take place over four nights, with works planned between 8pm and 7am each night. Works are anticipated to be complete by 7am Thursday 27 October, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. The convoy system will be removed outwith working hours; however, temporary traffic lights and a 30mph speed limit will remain in place during the day as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.


Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
