Morrison Community Care Group (MCCG) has submitted plans for a new site to be developed in Penicuik, Midlothian.
Set within a wider housing development presently being delivered by a national housebuilder, proposals for 'Greenlaw Luxury Suites' comprise a state-of-the-art, 56-bedroom care home that will offer sector-leading residential, dementia, and nursing services as well as a range of amenities and landscaped grounds for residents over the age of sixty-five.
A small retail unit will also be created which will be taken forward by an identified retailer to provide the local community with day-to-day essentials.
Greenlaw has been developed in partnership with Glasgow-based contractor CCG (Scotland) and designed by Holmes Miller architects. If granted approval, the project not only addresses the growing ageing population in Midlothian but it will also provide upwards of 100 jobs.
Morrison Community Care Managing Director, Paul Sokhi, said: "Morrison Community Care has a long-standing reputation in the design and development of care homes. We are one of the UK’s leading providers because we are passionate about providing the very highest standard of living and service possible and we hope to bring our expertise to Penicuik. Our work with CCG and Holmes Miller is sector-leading in Scotland and I am sure the plans will be welcomed by the local community."
David Wylie, CCG (Scotland) Managing Director, added: "With a growing ageing population, there is a growing demand for quality accommodation for the elderly in Scotland. CCG has worked in partnership with MCCG since 2017 and together we have led the delivery of care homes across the breadth of the country, creating over 200 beds with a further 68 beds currently under construction in Fife.
"We work together to combine our expertise in construction and care provision respectively, setting a benchmark for comfort, quality, and sustainability. If granted approval, we look forward to bringing forward Greenlaw Luxury Suites in 2023."
