Lochgilphead's Front Green has officially reopened to the public following a £1.5 million investment from Argyll and Bute Council.
The transformation includes a new public square, play park, additional seating, new walking and cycling facilities and drainage and landscaping to help ease the impact of flooding.
Argyll and Bute Council secured additional Scottish Government Town Centre funding to upgrade the footpath and railings along the front of the Green using local Achnaba stone.
Councillor Robin Currie, Policy Lead for the Economy and Rural Growth, said: "It's fantastic news that this much loved community asset is now open to the public after a substantial transformation. The Front Green lies at the heart of the community and provides an important recreation and social space.
"We are delighted to deliver the long held community aspiration to have a public square, a great location to hold community events. As we continue to invest across Argyll and Bute, we want to enhance vibrant communities and provide important facilities to help attract more people and investment to the area. We hope residents, visitors and generations to come will enjoy the new improved Front Green."
Funding partners include; Argyll and Bute Council's Tarbert and Lochgilphead Regeneration Fund, The Scottish Government's Cycling, Walking and Safer Routes (CWSR), Town Centre Funds, Lochgilphead Phoenix Project and the Co-operative Local Community Fund.
Contractors have temporarily cordoned off a small section of ground to allow the recently laid turf to establish. Work to remove the site offices and reseed the ground will start in the coming weeks.
