Marshalls, hard landscaping and building materials supplier, has announced a joint venture with Forest Press Hydraulics. The partnership saw the two company's build an innovative concrete wet press machine at the Marshalls site in Falkirk, Scotland.
When it comes to wet press manufacturing, Marshalls currently builds all its machinery in-house. By using its industry expertise, the business can create bespoke solutions and tailor-made processes. A specialist in concrete wet press machinery, Forest Press Hydraulics are based in the UK and supply wet press machinery around the world of various types and specifications, along with all associated equipment such as tooling, handling systems and bespoke solutions.
The new wet press machine is now fully operational; it will significantly transform output at the site and is anticipated to save hundreds of tonnes of carbon a year by dramatically reducing transportation.
Simon Bourne, Chief Operating Officer, said: "Whilst we're investing £24m in a new dual block plant in the south, we're innovating in the very north of the UK, at Falkirk. Our in-house technicians are talented at what they do, and it's great to bring a specialist like Forest Press in to deliver something truly unique."
Peter Bullock, Owner, Forest Press Hydraulics said: "As a supplier to Marshalls since 1984, various projects have been undertaken over the years, but to be given this opportunity to work with Marshalls and its in-house engineers on such a project was really quite special. The equipment design is pushing the boundaries of wet press technology and, in turn, allowing both of our companies to push forward into the future. We are grateful to be given such an opportunity and achieve such positive results."
