Eleven individuals from Morrison Construction have been awarded Scottish Water's GEM (Going the Extra Mile) Awards for their exceptional work, close collaboration with the Scottish Water team, regular communications and asset management on the delivery of the DV2 (Delivery Vehicle 2 scheme).
Winning the awards were Billy Early (Operative), Connor O'Donnoly (Site Agent), Dale Christie (Operative), Giles McGuire (Ganger), Graeme McGuire (Operative), James Davies (Site Agent), John Beveridge (Plant Operative), Matthew Anderson (Project Manager), Robbie Mulligan (Modern Apprentice), Robert McGurk (Ganger), and Scott McGurk (Operative), who were based on one of two projects.
The Castle Golf Course project resolved a burst sewer on the golf course that links a pumping station in St Andrews with the nearby wastewater treatment works. The team mobilised in a day and repaired and reconnected all works back into service with no disruption to the golf course or the client's infrastructure in under one week.
The second project involved unblocking a sewer connected to a deep trunk sewer in the middle of the town, again with quick mobilisation and restoring working order in two days with no disruption to businesses or local residents.
Impressed local residents and businesses provided feedback to Scottish Water, prompting the client's decision to put the team forward for GEM awards for exceptional customer service.
Drew Mackie, Construction Manager, Morrison Construction said: "Everyone in the Morrison Team is extremely proud of the recipients of these awards which shows the great work that they do for the Environment business in Scottish Water."
Paul Ingham, Operations Director for Morrison Construction's Scottish Environment business, added: "It is fantastic that we have been recognised in this way by our client Scottish Water. Both projects at St Andrews involved a lot of close co-operation and communication with a range of groups including golf club officials, the local council, local businesses and community, therefore the team deserves this recognition for the way they interacted with these groups and minimised any potential disruption."
The awards were presented by Karen Whitehall, Scottish Water's East Hub Delivery Manager for DV2 at their Bullion House office in Dundee. Also in attendance was Mark Dickson, Director of Capital Investment, Scottish Water.
Karen said: "The guys did a fantastic job at St Andrews, and it was a pleasure to spend some time with them today to say thank you."
Commenting after the awards were presented, Mark said: "The focus the team at Morrison Construction has on doing the right things quickly and effectively for the local customers and community is superb and aligned with all of our aspirations for delivering for customers."
